As we prepare for the stretch run, the Hog Indexes are beginning to congeal. The movement is relatively limited. We know which lines are good and which are not, but we must remain diligent all the same.
OFFENSIVE LINES: THREE UP
Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs are up to second on the Index despite losing to Cincinnati (again). They also lost the top seed to the Bills, the only team ahead of them on the Index. That said, we know this team is complete on offense and will be a threat come January.
Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys mauled the Colts on Sunday night, outscoring them 33-0 in the fourth quarter behind a dominant ground game. We knew their defense was elite, but if the offense gets going, this team becomes very hard to beat.
Green Bay Packers: The Packers got back in the win column as Aaron Rodgers continues to own the Bears, and the Packers line is starting to get healthy and climb the Index. It may be too little too late for the Packers, but the NFC is weak enough that they are not completely dead yet.
DEFENSIVE LINES: THREE UP
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs pulled out another miracle win on Monday night in New Orleans, and once again, the defense did the heavy lifting. They won 17-16, getting some huge late stops and scraping by. This team will win the NFC South, but serious concerns remain.
Philadelphia Eagles: Another week, another Eagles win. This time they stymied Derrick Henry and the Titans in a dominant performance. This team plays the trenches on both sides of the ball at a high level and will be a tough out in January, especially at home.
Las Vegas Raiders: The Raiders won their third in a row and played a fairly well-rounded game against the Chargers on Sunday. Like Green Bay, it is probably too late to make a run, but Josh McDaniels will likely keep his job at least.
LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING: THREE DOWN
Browns Offense: Deshaun Watson returned, and the Browns won, but they slid down the Index two spots. This may be a blip as Watson gets used to playing football again and gels with his new team, but it is worth noting he has a propensity to hold the ball.
Dolphins Offense: Miami had a tough day against the vaunted Niners defense. Tua Tagovailoa struggled mightily, and the run game was non-existent. The Dolphins have an explosive offense, but they need to give Tua time to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers.
Colts Defense: The Colts defensive line, one of few bright spots for them this season, got mauled on Sunday night and slid two spots down the Index. Indy, it may be time to start thinking about a draft pick, and maybe getting off of the quarterback carousel.
