We are now down to just four teams, all of them talented and with a legitimate chance to win it all. Both lines are within a field goal and it should make for a compelling weekend of football.
This final four is super competitive
As you can tell by the spreads, every one of these teams is immensely talented. They all rank in the top six on the Quality Stats Power Rankings and have been fairly consistent throughout the season. They’ve also all played great down the stretch. It should be a fun Sunday.
The Niners are still at the top
Despite being 2.5-point underdogs in Philly, the Niners are atop the Power Rankings and should be able to compete. They’ve been dismissed since Brock Purdy took over, but have just kept winning. These two teams are both elite in the trenches, and it should make a really good all-around game between two of the most talented and well-built teams in the league.
The quarterbacks will shine in the AFC
The AFC teams, on the other hand, are a little more dependent on their franchise players. Patrick Mahomes leads the league in Real Quarterback Rating, and he will likely be crowned MVP in a few weeks, while Joe Burrow ranks third (the San Francisco quarterback conglomerate is in between them). These guys are both incredibly dynamic and should be able to score a lot of points on Sunday.
Mahomes’ injury looms large
Of course, there is Patrick Mahomes’ high ankle sprain, which could be a problem for Kansas City. Mahomes did practice in full and appears ready to play, but he is clearly not 100%, and that is keeping this line closer to a pick ‘em than to Kansas City by a field goal. If Mahomes is good to go, Kansas City becomes the value side. If not, the wheels could come off quickly. This is one to keep an eye for live-betting opportunities.
The Intelligence Index likes the underdogs.
The Intelligence Index ranks the Niners first and Bengals fourth, while the Eagles and Chiefs rank 10th and 12th. Seeing Kyle Shanahan at the top is no surprise, but to see Zac Taylor above Andy Reid is. To pull one more upset, Shanhan and Taylor will need to be deep in their bags of tricks. One has a seventh-round rookie at quarterback, and the other is facing Patrick Mahomes on the road. Tall tasks.
