Rory McIlroy hasn't won a major since the PGA Championship in 2014, but that doesn't mean he's fallen apart. Quite the contrary. Just check out this stroke of brilliance at the ongoing PGA Championship:
That is an incredibly clever shot, making use of a rough lie to maximize distance and roll right to the edge of the green on Quail Hollow's par-5 10th. He saved par on the hole, which still seemed like a major ask despite his inspired shot, and has hovered around or just over par for the tournament.
That may not be enough to capture his third career PGA Championship, but it's likely enough for him to make the cut, which would be a fairly impressive accomplishment given a few of the wayward shots he's already hit. His approach shot on 10, for instance.
