According to multiple sources, AC Milan have agreed to a deal to sign Flamengo attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá in January. Provided the 21-year-old successfully completes a physical, the Italian giant will send 35 million euros (40.3 million dollars) to the Brazilian side.
The youngster is said to be a massive prospect in the soccer world. Huge clubs from all over Europe like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Liverpool were in the running, however, "I Rossoneri" utilized their strong relationship with Flamengo to get a deal done.
Paquetá has played with Flamengo's system since he was around 10-years-old in 2007. He made his senior side debut in 2016 after helping various youth teams win trophies. He signed a four-year contract with the Brazilian giant and helped his team win both the Campeonato Carioca in 2017 and the Taça Guanabara in 2018. In all, he's made 88 appearances for "O mais querido do Brasil" and scored 17 goals.
Barring any setbacks, Paquetá will become the latest Brazilian star to join the beloved Italian club. He'll be following in the footsteps of greats like Kaka, Thiago Silva, and Alexandre Pato, all of whom were picked up by team executive Leonardo, who started his professional career at Flamengo.
Will Paquetá help AC Milan find the success they once had in the 2000's? We will soon find out!
